Guidance on the smoke-free legislation for Wales can be downloaded below. This document sets out what you need to know in order to comply with the law. Supplementary guidance for NHS, Local Authorities and Care Service Providers is also available below.
No Smoking signs which meet the requirements set out in regulations need to be displayed in enclosed public premises and work premises. Details on how to order or download these can be found below.
For specific advice on the application of the legislation to your business, please contact your local authority’s department for environmental health or public protection. Supplementary guidance for NHS, Local Authorities and Care Service Providers
The supplementary guidance [PDF,172KB] relates to issues of particular concern to the NHS, local authorities and care service providers, such as protection of domiciliary workers. It should be read in conjunction with the general guidance document What you need to know about the smoke-free law (see above).
Signage
In order to comply with the law, no smoking signs that meet the requirements of the legislation will need to be displayed in smoke-free premises. Signage is also required for smoke-free vehicles. For further details please see the guidance document above.

NB: It is possible that your printer may automatically resize the following images. You should therefore check that the printed format meets the following criteria:
Premises signs:
- At least 160mm by 230mm from the outer edge of the red rectangle
- At least 85mm diameter from the outer edge of the red circle situated within the rectangle
Vehicle signs:
- At least 75mm diameter from the outer edge of the red circle

The premises sign below will be the minimum size required in order to comply with the law (160mm x 230mm)

Regulations also set out requirements for vehicle signs. The sign on a white background is for use on vehicle interiors and a transparent version is for use on windows. Signs available from your local authority will be self adhesive.
