Public consultation

The Smoke-free Premises etc. (Wales) Regulations 2007 came into effect at 6am on 2 April 2007. Assembly Members voted in favour of the regulations on 30th January 2007. Final regulations are available to download below. These set out detailed proposals for smoke-free public places, workplaces and vehicles.

The regulations cover issues such as exemptions to the ban on smoking in enclosed public places and workplaces, the no-smoking signage requirements and arrangements for enforcement of the ban.

On 21st July 2006 the Assembly Government launched a public consultation on the draft Smoke-Free Premises etc. (Wales) Regulations. The twelve-week consultation came to an end on 13th October 2006. The consultation report [PDF, 109.61 KB] provides a summary of all the responses received.
