The Orangery Aberystwyth

The Future’s clear...
The Future’s Orange!

The OrangeryIt's often said Aberystwyth has more pubs per head of population than most towns. Indeed this vibrant university town, boasting some seven thousand students, has more than 50 pubs scattered around its picturesque Victorian side streets and promenade. On that basis the town probably also boasts more ashtrays per head of population than most!

But for those who fancy something a little different from the usual smoky pub scene, the Orangery on Market Street is an oasis of clarity. The modern, airy and smoke-free atmosphere hits you as soon as you walk through the door with plenty of comfortable sofas waiting to be sunk into and the conversation to flow along with the beer.
Managed by Medina Rees, the Orangery has been a smoke-free bar since it opened last June and to date the policy has been a complete success. With a garden out back for customers who fancy a cigarette, this spacious and bright wine bar offers a relaxing atmosphere for locals and students alike looking to wind down after a busy week or just wanting to chill-out on a lazy Sunday.

Medina Rees said, “We’ve received a lot of positive feedback from customers who enjoy the atmosphere here. We believe The Orangery offers something a little different for the people of Aberystwyth. It’s a refreshing change for those who want to spend an afternoon or evening in a clean smoke-free environment. Our first year here has been a roaring success and we hope to have many more successful no smoking years.”
