The Horseshoes Pub, Berriew, Welshpool

Clean air a shoo-in…
at the Horseshoes!

The Horseshoes pub reopened its doors with a breath of fresh air last February - refurbished and completely smoke-free.

Having considered having a partial ban in the pub, owners Diane and Paul Jameson felt a blanket ban would work better, and with the new legislation around the corner it made perfect sense to start as they mean to go on.

With the workmen in over Christmas, the couple are confident that the new family-friendly and accessible pub will prove a hit with the locals, particularly when hot food will be served in a clean air environment.

Once people get used to the idea, they won’t think twice about not lighting up in a pub. Diane says: “Paul is a smoker himself, but he’s long used to popping outside for his cigarettes- he’s very keen on the new law, and besides, it’ll keep the new decorations in better condition and create an altogether more pleasant environment to work in.”
