Owners Steve and Mary Jane Calvert decided to go smoke free from the outset when they opened in September 2005. Whether you’re practicing that swing or perfecting your shot, no serious golfer wants to worry about a puff of smoke getting in the way of their stroke.

Their daughter Jane explains, “We basically wanted a nice pleasant atmosphere here at the golf club. It’s a place for people to come and enjoy their golf and admire the views. It’s also child friendly and a smoky environment isn’t the ideal place for children.

“Smoking does ruin the interiors and it’s expensive to keep up with the wear and tear let alone worrying about cigarette burns and nicotine stains. It also gets quite hot here during the summer and there’s nothing worse than being in a sticky and smoky environment. Apart from one or two complaints, we’ve had plenty of compliments –and everyone just seems to be happier in a clean no smoking place.”
