Coed Cae B&B

Smoky air a far cry….
…. at Coed Cae

Taicynhaeaf lies at the head of Cwm-Mynach, near the Mawddach estuary in North Wales. It’s the sort of place whose beauty is captivating, and its natural fresh air is invigorating.  Little wonder then, that Jacky and Graham O’Hanlon chose not to allow the waft of tobacco smoke within their 200 year old traditional welsh cottages, the homely Bed and Breakfast, ‘Coed Cae’.

Being non-smokers themselves, the decision to go smoke free from the outset when they opened some 15 months ago was very straightforward. Jacky says, “We wanted to create a clean and pleasant environment for everyone; the thing is, non-smokers can tell straight away if a room smells of smoke, and we cater for families with children where smoky surroundings aren’t suitable.”

Guests are informed of the strict no smoking policy when booking and this is reiterated on arrival.  Customer response has been overwhelmingly positive; they have yet to receive any negative feedback, indeed Jacky adds, “It’s a real positive selling point, people are more likely to look for it nowadays and moreover smokers don’t expect to be able to smoke indoors.”

Smokers can go outside to smoke, and in fairness, they are rewarded with fine views of Snowdonia - enough to make even the most committed of smokers want to stub out and breathe in the same fresh air found inside ‘Coed Cae’.
