With the imminent smoking ban just around the corner, one businessman who is more than ecstatic about the ban is Bob Jude from Cwmbran. He is a proud example of smoke-free business success, as his company Bob Jude Flooring has been a no-smoking zone ever since it was established back in August of 1968!

The company, which is based on an industrial estate in Cwmbran, sells, supplies and fixes flooring all over the UK. With over 27 fitters and 9 office staff, Bob’s company has grown immensely over the years, staying smoke-free throughout.

Bob said, “I’ve always implemented a no-smoking policy. It’s never been an issue and all the staff that have ever worked here have always accepted it. There are smokers here but they know they can’t smoke on the premises nor when they’re away from the offices fitting floors.

“Our policy encourages our workers who smoke not to light up during working hours and I think that can only be a good thing. I want my workers healthy, wealthy and wise and that’s the way it’s staying.

“On a personal level, my friends and I go out every Thursday night and it’s always a nuisance going to smoky places, especially in a restaurant where someone’s smoking on the next table. I’ll be in my element when the smoking ban comes in – we can go out to wherever we want and won’t have to put up with breathing in second-hand smoke!”
