Clyne Golf Club, Mayals, Swansea
Clean air…
…at Clyne Golf Club
At the entrance to the beautiful Gower Peninsular lies Clyne Golf Club with a course commanding wonderful views in all directions. Founded in 1920, the club has always been a popular place to play golf, relax or simply to enjoy the views either from the green or the panoramic windows of the newly smoke-free club house.

The club’s voluntary smoking ban came into force on April 1st after it was decided to provide a healthier environment at the club not only for the players, staff and members but most importantly for the thriving junior section at the club. Prior to the ban, smoking was allowed in the lounge/ bar but following discussion and consultation with club members, smoking was prohibited. Today the area is full of smoke-free life and post golf chatter.
Club captain John Harford said, “Our club rooms are used by golf players - men, women, families and children and we wanted to provide a healthy environment for everyone to enjoy. People can now enjoy their food without the worry of smoke drifting through. The lounge and bar area is as popular as ever with everyone happier in a clean environment. Smokers have a choice, it’s not right for people who don’t smoke to suffer the effects of second-hand smoke.”
